"This commission from the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources provided me with the opportunity to explore and research some of Ontario's most spectacular scenery. Portraying the Great Lakes Heritage Coast, a 2900 km stretch of Georgian Bay and Lake Superior (from right to left in the painting), it represents both the above and below water ecosystems as they interrelate. A two week trip including scuba diving with still and video cameras, combined with creating a number of landscape paintings in the field, gave me the necessary reference and inspiration for the piece. This poster was published by the ministry to promote the region and this significant environment.
Cottage Life Television created a segment for their program about the making of the painting. It can be viewed by clicking the link below the poster image." - Cory Trepanier
